Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic full-time General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of an one of the largest and most established Antique markets in London. This is a varied, people-facing leadership role suited to someone highly organised, commercially minded, and confident managing a close-knit but diverse community of dealers and staff.
Job Description
An antique market is looking for an entrepreneurial and experienced individual to join us as general manager. This is a hands-on leadership position overseeing operations, administration, community engagement, and marketing activity across the market.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, practical, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of both strategic planning and daily management. You will be responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the market, strengthening dealer relationships, and supporting the long-term development of the business.
Previous managerial experience preferred not essential. Bookkeeping experience also preferred but not essential.
This is a full-time permanent position - 10 am to 6 pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily running of the market and office, bookkeeping, phone lines and post.
- Manage shop licences of the 80 + separate units in the multistorey building
- Manage building-related matters and liaise with contractors where necessary
- Lead and support the on-site team including the assistant to the manager, marketing manager and the full-time building caretaker
- Act as the main point of contact for dealer concerns and operational matters, maintaining and strengthening relationships with our large community of antique dealers.
- Lead on major events including the annual antique fair and seasonal celebrations
- Identify opportunities to grow the market's profile and commercial performance
- Drive footfall, dealer retention, and revenue growth
- Reporting regularly directly to the market's founder.
