An exciting opportunity has arisen at EKC Folkestone College for a Programme Director (aka Course Leader) of English and ESOL. This is predominantly a teaching role, with the expectation to support development of the curriculum area.

You'll be teaching, supporting and assessing students coursework across functional skills English and GCSE English.

As a Programme Director at EKC group you will plan a highly relevant and distinctive curriculum to meet the local/regional skills requirements, and the needs of the student, in liaison with the department leadership team to support outstanding progression for students.

You will also lead and coordinate the delivery team so all students receive up-to-date course information during their time at college. You'll create course/programme activities to support student understanding of the objectives, assessment schedules and requirements in line with awarding body criteria, including the course handbook.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching, supporting and assessing students coursework across functional skills English and GCSE English.
  • Planning a highly relevant and distinctive curriculum to meet local/regional skills requirements and student needs.
  • Leading and coordinating the delivery team to ensure up-to-date course information.
  • Creating course programme activities to support student understanding of objectives, assessment schedules and awarding body criteria.
Qualifications
  • Highly organised, creative, and able to plan and teach engaging and innovative lessons with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Strong background in teaching English and a passion for making a difference to student future careers.
  • Teaching and vocational experience essential, with strong leadership skills desirable.
  • Successful track record of reviewing and tracking student progress to plan interventions and ensure skill development.
  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification.

Salary Scale

There are two salary scale points for Programme Director positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Employees can move up the salary scale once you have worked as a Programme Director for our group for one entire academic year, subject to approval. Therefore, internal applicants may qualify for the higher salary scale, although they should seek clarification.
