Production Technician Location: Defence Academy Shrivenham Salary: Up to £26,617 dependent upon experience, plus excellent benefits Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week. Ready to impact a better future?

As a Production Technician in our Media Services team, you'll help deliver high quality design, print and production services that support the Defence Academy and its wider community.

Your work will directly contribute to the smooth running of essential training, education and operational outputs, enabling colleagues and learners to access the materials they need with accuracy and confidence.

You'll play a hands on role at the heart of a busy production environment, helping create impactful solutions by ensuring every item produced meets the highest standards.

From print and finishing to customer support and workflow coordination, you'll make a positive impact on colleagues across the site and help drive a smooth, trusted and reliable service.

What you'll do as a Production Technician
  • Carry out pre production tasks including file clean up, formatting and imposition using graphics and specialist pre press software.
  • Operate digital colour production printers to deliver high quality print work.
  • Complete finishing tasks such as cutting, stapling, creasing, binding and laminating.
  • Operate dye sublimation, UV and wide format printers, including mounting, trimming and roller banner assembly.
  • Scan hard copy documents ranging from A4 to A0.
  • Prioritise and progress customer calls, accurately recording materials using electronic job management systems.
  • Help maintain an organised printroom and paper store.
  • Assist customers with collections and enquiries, providing a helpful and professional service.
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure accurate handovers and clear timelines.
  • Support installation of wall graphics and provide reception cover for Media Services.
  • Triage incoming work requests and ensure files are clear and print ready.
  • Manage postage, deliveries and basic purchasing duties such as raising PO requests.
  • Drive the Serco vehicle around site for occasional deliveries or contractor collections.
Does this sound like you? You'll be a great fit for this role if you have:
  • Significant experience working within a digital print room, including pre press, print and finishing.
  • Practical experience of wide format printing and finishing processes.
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (especially Word and PowerPoint).
  • A passion for excellent customer service, quality output and attention to detail.
  • A reliable, can do attitude with the ability to respond to urgent work.
  • Strong practical skills, tidy working methods and a positive, proactive approach to learning.
  • The ability to engage confidently with customers at all levels and maintain strong personal and professional standards.
Vetting and checks

This role requires BPSS clearance, which involves identity verification, employment history, and criminal record checks to meet government security standards.

An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be required to ensure we can offer appropriate support for your wellbeing and performance.
