South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT) is an experienced, forward thinking pharmacist to lead our Production Services team and act as the department's Accountable Pharmacist. This is a pivotal senior leadership role, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of aseptic production services that directly support high quality patient care across the Trust.
The Production Services Manager & Accountable Pharmacist provides strategic, operational and professional leadership for our manufacturing unit. You will oversee the delivery of high quality, patient centred services, ensuring compliance with MHRA, GMP, GPhC and all relevant regulatory frameworks.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team of technical, scientific, and pharmacy professionals, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement and shared ownership. Working closely with clinical, operational, and corporate colleagues, you will shape the future direction of our production services and contribute to Trust wide quality improvement initiatives.
Main duties of the jobProvidestatic strategic leadership for Production Services, including aseptic preparation, manufacturing and quality control/assurance functions.
Acts as the Accountable Pharmacist for the Aseptic Unit, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Lead on inspections, internal audits and quality governance processes.
Drives service development, capacity planning, and workforce transformation to meet current and future demand.
Maintain oversight of quality systems and risk management processes.
Develop and empower a high performing workforce through coaching, professional development and inclusive leadership.
Manage budgets, resources, and operational performance to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery.
Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to support innovation, research and the introduction of new therapies and technologies.
Work closely with the Chief Pharmacist to shape and deliver ICB wide strategy for aseptic services, ensuring the Trust's production capacity, quality standards, and service models align with the regional priorities and future system needs.

Responsible for the leadership, operational management and strategic development of aseptic services at STSFT.
Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Pharmacist with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post graduate qualification preferably in Pharmacy Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) to minimum diploma level or willing to work towards (will be expected to complete within 3 years if not held). If not, must have demonstrable significant experience working within aseptic services and GMP experience.
- Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Significant experience as a production/aseptic services pharmacist within the NHS.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of GMP.
- Experience of PQS, aseptic preparation, pharmaceutics and formulation, audit, and risk assessment.
- Suitable knowledge and experience to be acceptable to MHRA to be named on the Specials Licence
- Publication/ presentation of pharmacy practice research
- Conference / symposium presentation
- Supervising / Management of staff
- Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
- Able to participate in an emergency duty (on-call) roster and 7 day working where required
- Manual dexterity required for preparation of cytotoxic infusions and injections
- Knowledge of all regulations and legislation relevant to pharmacy aseptic dispensing/production and quality assurance
- Evidence of first class interpersonal skills and the ability to use them to work effectively to motivate and develop staff
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to negotiate, influence in difficult situations
- Proven ability to work across organisational boundaries
- Experience of gathering and analysing complex information
- Demonstrable ability to compile reports from complex information and deliver presentations

- Demonstrable knowledge of risk management processes, audit and clinical governance
