To provide the mill with operative support in order to meet site standards to maintain product consistency, equipment reliability, operational efficiency and maximise factory output, in compliance with group policies.
To operate the facility in execution of all operational tasks on a day-to-day basis. This includes logistics, materials handling, small maintenance tasks and operating specific equipment to the required standards.
Production Operator Duties- Operating and monitoring machinery to ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Maintain operating costs through auditing and controlling against centreline settings.
- Keeping accurate records of production output and downtime and working as a team to reach output targets.
- Operation of FLT, Clamp truck, Skid-steer and MEWP (Cherry Picker)
- Undertaking routine maintenance and cleaning of the machinery, which includes, carrying out FLT checks against the checklist daily
- Adhering to quality, health, and safety procedures and regulations.
- Troubleshooting day to day issues.
- Strong IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office use
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience in a heavy industrial environment
- 5 GCSEs of C and above.
- Previous experience operating an FLT, Clamp truck, Skid-steer and MEWP (Cherry Picker) - training will be provided.
Hourly rate for this role is £14.7995 while training. Following successful completion of training, the hourly rate will increase to £16.4438.
Pay for this role is based on annualised hours. Although the hours worked in each pay period may vary due to the 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, employees receive a consistent payment each pay period based on their annualised hours. This also includes premiums for weekend working.
For example:
- 'A' shift: 1728 hours are actually worked over the year
- Employees are paid for 2106 annualised hours which reflects the applicable shift/weekend premiums.
Therefore, for 'A' shift, the annual salary during training would be:
2106 x £14.7995 = £31,167.75
Following successful completion of training, the annual salary would be:
2106 x £16.4438 = £34,630.64 per annum

We're excited to be recruiting for this brand-new Production Operator role based in Disley. As this is a newly created position, full training will be provided, making it an excellent opportunity for experienced operators.
This role follows a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, with an 18-day break built into the roster every 8 weeks.
Please be aware that within the operational areas of our tissue mills, you may encounter some humidity, puddles on the ground from water residue, and odours associated with our waste-water treatment process. We minimise these as much as reasonably practicable; however, they are a normal part of a tissue mill environment. We remain fully committed to our 'Zero Harm by Choice' guiding principle.
