Job Description

Job Title: Production Operative (Plastic Extrusion)
Location: Aflex - UK - Bradley Business Park
Location Type: On Site

Job Summary: Seeking a talented and motivated Production Operative (Plastic Extrusion) to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with the Company Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Policies, reporting any potentially dangerous issues/faults to the direct Team Leader or Production Manager, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensure quality products are produced in the required quantity, on time, and at the lowest possible cost, in keeping with Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude to training and personal development.
  • Monitor the performance of the process to achieve maximum output at all times.
  • Carry out and document correct quality control checks for each job performed, completing all production paperwork.
  • Work as a team to achieve departmental targets, company targets and customer deadlines.
  • Degrease hoses.
  • Test hoses.
  • Reel up hoses.
  • Operate a plastic extruder.
  • Adhere to correct procedures.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed at the correct time.
  • Adhere to safe working practices at all times.
  • Perform required safety checks to ensure integrity and effectiveness of the department, operating in accordance with training given.
  • Ensure adherence to 5S in the department.
  • Transfer to other areas of the department/business as requested.
  • Ensure department machines are kept in good working condition and report major maintenance issues immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and relevant regulations.
  • Ensure all PPE is worn at all times where applicable.
  • Extrude PVC, Polyurethane and other materials.
  • Work involves manual handling, some of which may be heavy.
Skills & Experience
  • Highly motivated and able to work as part of a team, with flexibility to cover sickness, holidays, overtime, etc.
  • Positive working attitude.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt.
  • Quality orientation.
  • Good level of numeracy and general education.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to perform manual work.
  • Experience within mechanical engineering, extrusion, injection moulding, and understanding of pressure and flow would be an advantage.
  • Technical ability.
