Job Description

As a production operative you will be working initially within the Quality Control department, where you are required to achieve and maintain a high level of workmanship and quality. This role includes both hand work and the use of some machinery. This role requires flexibility as it covers other sections/departments in production.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Depending on the area of the business, where employees are trained to do so, they may be asked to work in any of the following processes:
  • Rolling
  • Winding
  • Side Grinding
  • Inspection
  • Packing
  • Finishing
  • Heat Treatment
  • Form Correction
  • Step gap
  • Lapping
  • Ensure that you comply with all company documentation, work instructions and policies relevant to your department.
  • Looking at ways to improve production efficiency
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are completed as instructed
  • Produce parts that conform to the drawing requirements in a good time.
  • Ensuring all documentation including works orders and inspection Checks are completed and operations booked on the ERP system.
  • Ensuring daily checks on the machines that you are using are carried out, reporting any faults to the supervisor.
  • Ensure relevant PPE is worn adhering to the Health & Safety guidance and procedures.
  • Ensure 6S practices are followed.
  • Ensure that your supervisor is informed and communicated with to keep them up to date with progress of work or issues that may arise.
  • Ensure a detailed handover is provided when sharing work with fellow operators.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Engineering bias including direct hands-on experience in machine setting, operation, and maintenance on one or more of the processes listed above.
  • Experience in using measuring equipment within a precision engineering environment.
