Job Description Role: Production Manager Job Summary: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will lead production operations at the Fiberglass Mat Plant in Chester, SC. This role is responsible for overseeing shift supervisors and process technicians, ensuring safe and efficient operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining process control, and delivering results aligned with plant business objectives. The position plays a key leadership role in advancing operational excellence, process discipline, and team development. The Production Manager will have direct responsibility for 5 Shift Supervisors and production operators. Mentoring immediate direct reports and establishing an effective team that is accountable and capable of achieving all performance goals. Ensures a safe work environment through strict adherence to IKO's safety policies and procedures, while driving continuous improvement in the areas of safety and housekeeping. Providing leadership to drive continuous improvement through the application of methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, 5S, working directly with the production and maintenance teams. Responsible for maintaining controlled and capable processes with the emphasis on safety, quality, productivity, and environmental compliance. Leads the department in a way that is in line with the plant vision of being process driven which will require continuing to create and improve the detailed operating structure that drives repeatability from shift to shift, and from operator to operator. Must understand this requirement clearly and have a strong passion for working in a process driven environment. Partnering with the Quality Control Coordinator to ensure that finished product meets all customer requirements through continuous improvement and utilization of the plant quality management system. Efficient utilization of plant personnel and equipment to maximize productivity and cost effectiveness in meeting the plant's business plan (JE, OEE, CSF produced, etc.) Provides a trained and motivated workforce capable of implementing the plant's business strategy. Works with other departments to actively pursue manufacturing improvement programs along with fostering a One Plant partnership with other departments and peers to achieve aligned goals. Creates a work environment characterized by mutual trust and respect, open and honest communications, teamwork and a passion for winning. Qualifications 4-year degree in an Engineering field preferred or equivalent production leadership experience. 12-15 years of leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience, knowledge or trained in Lean Manufacturing and 5S. Proficient with Microsoft Office, JDE, Maximo or equivalent ERP and management systems. Ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization. Ability to grow and mentor talent Possesses strong process and financial acumen Ability to effectively motivate and bring together a new team with everyone focused on Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement. Experience working in a nonwoven fiberglass mat plant or paper mill is preferred but not requiredThis is a safety sensitive position.
