Job Description
Production Manager

Position summary: Management experience; technical experience; Applicants should be comfortable training and supervising a team of students for the technical aspects of events, and communicating with faculty and staff about their schedules, events, pre production and staffing for technical audio, video, and/or broadcast needs.

Essential Job Functions
  • Management of a paid student team of engineers; training, updating and maintenance of Concert Recording SOP manual in coordination with the Concert Recording Manager (Student Temporary Position)
  • Coordinate setup and tear down of audio and video equipment for rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and concerts throughout the week
  • Coordinate with student concert recording manager to ensure staffing is available
  • Coordinate audio, video, broadcast, and recording needs with the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts Technical Director and staff for shared events
  • Coordinate with the Broyhill Music Center Technical & Operations Manager and student stage crews for productions and rehearsals
  • Work with faculty coaches, ensemble conductors, and ensembles for recording audio and/or video productions, editing, transcoding, and distributing, depending on the needs of the performers and/or conductors
  • Work to create content, or manage students creating content, for the Hayes School of Music Live Stream in coordination with the Community Engagement Specialist
  • Provide videography services for the Hayes School of Music: video compositing, promotional and development materials, and communications projects for the Dean of the Hayes School of Music
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues with NDI, Tricaster, YouTube streaming, Dante, Networking, website design, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Pro Tools, Macintosh and Windows operating systems
  • Advise staff on appropriate additional camera shots and effect lighting for concerts (such as colored LED panel lights)
  • Coordinate with the Technical & Operations Manager to maintain inventory of equipment
  • Maintain inventory of student employee uniforms
  • Lead a project to organize and maintain the current and future archive of the Hayes School of Music for audio, video, and program PDFs for our onsite NAS system, Faculty storage, and the Belk Library and Information Commons' repository
  • Attend weekly in person and Zoom conference meetings, as appropriate, with representatives, including the Chief Recording Engineer, Technical and Operations Manager, Associate Deans, Dean, and Arts Production Specialist for the Hayes School of Music
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or higher; technical experience in a variety of areas including but not limited to computer operating systems, audio engineering, DAWs such as ProTools, lighting systems, broadcasting systems (OBS and Tricaster), video production, video and visual media editing, online distribution of media, SAN and Cloud systems, archival and repository systems, DANTE audio distribution, NDI video distribution and basic networking systems.

Hours and days of the week depend upon events and assignments. Flexibility is mandatory.

Compensation

Pay range: $18.00 $25.00 per hour. Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
