Production Maintenance Shift Engineer - Hatfield

£46k plus £3,600 on call allowance.

We're looking for an experienced Shift Engineer to join a well-established maintenance team based at our Hatfield head office. This role sits within the MHE department and focuses on keeping equipment running safely, reliably, and to a high standard. You'll be responsible for maintaining and servicing a range of material handling systems, responding to breakdowns, and carrying out planned maintenance. The role is fully onsite, five days a week, working a rotating shift pattern.

06:00 - 14:00
14:00 - 22:00

The role
  • Carry out electrical maintenance on material handling equipment
  • Fault find and test PLC and three-phase systems
  • Respond to machine faults and complete planned maintenance tasks
  • Provide emergency response for essential equipment breakdowns
  • Maintain machinery and equipment to agreed standards
  • Identify and rectify defects in a timely manner
  • Support facilities activities when required
  • Complete time sheets, task documentation, and manage stock control
  • Order consumables and handle related administrative tasks
What we're looking for
  • Qualified, time-served technician with a strong electrical background
  • Proven experience fault finding in a fast-paced production or operational environment
  • Previous PLC experience is beneficial
  • Experience maintaining automated material handling equipment or similar systems
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a team
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Able to work at heights
  • Strong practical understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Health & Safety qualification or training in high-bay racking access equipment and controlled descent rescue procedures
Qualifications
  • City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Working knowledge of automated material handling equipment
