The RoleWe are seeking a Production Buyer to join Brompton in London. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for those starting their career in Purchasing or experienced professionals seeking a new challenge.
In this role, you will be responsible for placing purchase orders based on material requirements or purchase requests, managing material flows to ensure timely, quality, and cost-effective delivery of outsourced and purchased products, and initiating corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
This position involves working within a dynamic network between Brompton Bicycle Plant and the procurement sector. You will drive supplier performance across our global supply chain in a fast-paced, digital environment, managing a portfolio of suppliers supporting all Brompton programs.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily global supplier and subcontractor portfolios using existing and future digital tools.
- Collaborate with Planning, Logistics, Quality, and NPI teams as a procurement partner.
- Control demand and forecast, challenge internal MRP demands, and review delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Monitor delivery forecasts, manage 'line of balance', and proactively address operational risks.
- Analyze delays, prioritize urgent issues, and communicate effectively with internal teams and suppliers.
- Plan purchase order releases, coordinate supplier visits, and manage logistics including shipping and reverse logistics flows.
- Maintain accurate master data and update ordering parameters in INFOR and PDM systems.
- Monitor supply chain performance KPIs, support supplier performance reviews, and oversee inventory levels.
- Support projects aimed at transforming supply chain and logistics processes.
- Self-driven, proactive, and practical with excellent communication skills.
- Solid purchasing skills including supply planning, RFQs, negotiation, and supplier management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- At least 2 years' experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant field such as Business Management, though this is non-essential.
