LOCATION(S): Bristol
HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least t wo days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Bristol office.

This is not your average Product Owner role it blends the structured focus of a Product Owner with the creativity and audience-awareness of a marketing and communications lead. You'll own and shape two of our most important products: our internal Stack Overflow platform and our Engineering Information Hub. You'll lead the delivery of our information strategy so 16,000+ engineers have the knowledge they need, when they need it.
You'll set the vision, guide the roadmap, and make sure these tools truly work for our engineers, while also building campaigns and content that spark engagement, build confidence, and make complex information easy to understand.
The right person will be just as comfortable in a backlog refinement session as they are planning a communications strategy and will instinctively know how to translate technical detail into something relevant, engaging, and easy to understand. This is a rare hybrid role that demands curiosity, adaptability, and the confidence to work with everyone from software engineers to senior leaders. You'll be the person who connects the dots between great products and great communication .

What you'll do
Support development of Lab or Team goals and achievements, providing product performance and benefits realization data
Define user-stories at Lab or Team level to meet customer needs
Works with Customer Journey Manager to analyse user stories for customer journey improvements
Shape Product vision and roadmap at Lab or Team level
Prioritises refine and manage Lab or Team Product backlog
Accountable for Product change governance (e.g., CMIA / SPFIA) and Business Readiness activities (e.g., training and comms, testing and readiness for implementation) for their respective features, journeys or technology components. Note: PO's are accountable but activities to be delivered by the whole 'team '.
Play a role in developing capabilities within their functional area and invests in personal and team growth through mentoring and other informal methods
Work with Integrators when change is particularly large

What you'll need
Product ownership - ability to set a product vision, define and manage a roadmap, prioritise backlog items, and work closely with developers/designers to deliver value.
Strategic thinking - able to see the bigger picture and connect products, channels, and initiatives to the wider engineering strategy.
Information strategy - capable of owning and evolving the organisation's engineering information strategy, ensuring the right content reaches the right people in the right way.
Marketing & communications expertise - experience in crafting compelling messages, campaigns, and content strategies for a highly technical audience.
Content design & governance - skilled in structuring, organising, and maintaining content so it's accurate , user-centred, and easy to find.
Data-driven decision-making - comfortable using analytics, feedback, and research to improve both product and communication effectiveness.
Stakeholder management - confident engaging with senior leaders, SMEs, and technical teams to understand needs and influence direction.
Change management - able to drive adoption of new tools, processes, and channels, encouraging behaviour change across a large, distributed audience.
Technical fluency - comfortable discussing engineering concepts, tools, and workflows, even if not writing code.
User empathy - understands engineers' difficulties and can translate them into solutions that save time, reduce friction, and add value.
Flexible attitude - equally comfortable switching between detailed product delivery and creative campaign planning.
