Job Description

IDRecruitment are recruiting a Product Development Engineering Manager for aMedical Device manufacturing company located in Galway.

TheProduct Development Manager will lead a team of engineers and technicians to bring projects from Phase 1 to commercialization. Thesuccessful candidate will act as a technical leader for Product Developmentrelated improvements, as well as informing development assignments or trainingrelated to the PDP procedure.

Duties include;

  • Partners with ProgramManagers to execute the project plan to schedule, within budget constraints,meeting or exceeding customer requirements
  • Partnerwith Manufacturing Engineering, NPI Engineering, or SMEs to develop innovativemanufacturing processes following lean manufacturing and DFM principles thatsatisfy customer and regulatory requirements, as well as vitality metrics (yield,cost, on-time delivery)
  • Mentorand develop junior staff members on PDP overview, procedure, and best practices
  • Mentorand develop junior staff members to lead their own projects or sub-portions oflarger projects
  • Co-ordinateand participate in brainstorming and troubleshooting activities
  • Co-ordinateand participate in design or phase reviews to support the advancement ofprojects from Phase 1 to commercialisation following the company PDP procedure
  • Participatein design for manufacture/design for assembly activities
  • Maintainsdetailed documentation throughout all project phases
  • Participatein design and process verification and validation activities working withmanufacturing and quality personnel
  • Workwith other company sites to support design and development activities
  • Participatein customer meetings and visits
  • Familiarwith medical device regulations FDA, QSR and ISO 13485

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in mechanicalengineering, biomedical engineering, polymer engineering or other equivalentdiscipline
  • 10+years' work experience in medical device or similar industry is preferred
  • Demonstratedability to develop medical devices from concept to commercialisation
  • Experiencein design and manufacture of balloon catheters and delivery systems
  • Familiarwith DFM/DFA principles
  • Strongcommunication and presentation skills
  • Strongproblem solving and analysis skills
