JOB - Product Design Engineer

LOCATION - Basingstoke, Hampshire

TERM - Permanent

SALARY - £30,000 - £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

My client is an innovative engineering and manufacturing business.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an Engineer to join their technical team at their Basingstoke headquarters.

Working directly under the Technical Director, this is an excellent opportunity for an engineer to be involved with product development and seeing projects through from concept to completion. The role offers genuine development opportunities, including CAD training and involvement in exciting new product development projects.

The Engineer will ideally have:

  • HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Product Design or a related Engineering discipline
  • At least 1-3+ years experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement practical engineering solutions
  • Experience creating or working with Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with customers and internal departments
  • CAD experience would be highly advantageous
  • Experience with product development, production engineering or design engineering would be beneficial
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish

The Product Design Engineer role will involve:
  • Supporting the Technical Director with engineering, production engineering and new product development projects from concept through to manufacture.
  • Creating and reviewing Bills of Materials, engineering documentation and technical specifications, while supporting product testing, production improvements and continuous development.
  • Managing multiple refurbishment, modification and product integration projects, providing technical support across the business and assisting with customer site visits where required.
  • Supporting engineering decision-making, mentoring junior team members and contributing to the ongoing improvement of products, processes and manufacturing efficiency.
