Main purpose of roleWorking as a key part of the Gamma Owned Products engineering team, the Product Delivery Manager is wholly responsible for the technical delivery of one of our Gamma owned or Gamma integrated products.
The Product Delivery Manager will be responsible for the engineering squads dedicated to building their product and will have between 2-8 squad leaders as direct reports. The role requires close collaboration with the Product Owner Manager (POM) dedicated to their product from within the Product Design and Delivery team.
The Product Delivery Manager will work closely with the Product Design and Delivery team working during the discovery phases of all future product work and will be a key player in building the product roadmap.
The Product Delivery Manager will be expected to build a sense of ownership for their product within a high-performing team that is motivated to deliver a high-quality product against the roadmap timelines.
Key responsibilities:- Line management responsibility for the circa 15-30 development engineers across multiple engineering squads
- Setting strategic direction for the engineering teams on process, tooling and training
- Accountable for building and delivering the product in line with the 12-month product roadmap.
- Ensure the Product Backlog is maintained and reflects the long-term vision.
- Own escalations and issues, working with teams up to CT level ensure these are communicated effectively and addressed in a timely manner.
- Plan a work schedule to deliver against the product release schedules and manage and monitor the delivery activities throughout, managing changes in direction as necessary
- Work with the POM with end-to-end user story mapping during the requirements phase to ensure that user journeys can be implemented as required, involving technical resource from within the team as needed.
- In collaboration with the engineering teams, map business requirements into epics and stories with clear story definition and acceptance criteria, ensuring close involvement with the POM to make sure that scope is clearly understood and correctly documented, ensuring all epics and stories are ready in line with the development schedule
- Work with Solutions Designers, Chief Architect and Engineer to ensure scoping, planning and development meet our strategic aspirations.
Ensure the teams maintain and manage the Jira boards to the team standards to support multiple streams of development in parallel. - Contribute to the continual improvement of processes used across the Group Products team
- Facilitate agile ceremonies across the development teams
- Report regularly to the Head of Engineering on delivery progress, risks and issues and be a central point of reference for all development related to the product, communicating clearly on progress and any variations from plans.
- An experienced technical leader who has run multiple, multi-disciplinary engineering squads in an agile environment building software products, with direct reports including software engineers with different levels of experience
- Experienced in agile software delivery with an emphasis on failing fast and changing direction quickly
- Skilled in work breakdown, translating requirements from product teams into epics and stories using agile techniques such as user story mapping
- Analytical thinking around product solutions
- Experience working with product managers and UX designers in defining and refining requirements, user journeys and user interface design
- Knowledge of and experience in developing from prioritised product backlogs and contributing to the prioritisation process Excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence to challenge others in an appropriate way
- Ability and capacity to manage a demanding workload, handle conflicting priorities and a proven success rate of delivering high quality products, quickly and at scale
- Experience in using tools such as Confluence, JIRA, Trello, Lucid and Microsoft 365 suite
- An understanding of various agile artifacts and ceremonies, and how to effectively work with product and technical teams within these frameworks
