What you'll do

As Vice President, Product Control, you will be responsible for overseeing critical financial control activities that underpin the integrity of the organisation's trading operations. Your day to day work will involve producing accurate daily P&L reports for various securities desks, ensuring that all revenue balances are reconciled with management information systems. You will also provide essential backup coverage for complex derivative trades while enhancing independent price verification processes. By investigating discrepancies and driving process improvements, you will help strengthen the overall control environment. Your expertise will be called upon to substantiate balance sheet entries and participate in transformative projects aimed at optimising finance operations. Success in this role requires close collaboration with both Front Office traders and infrastructure teams, as well as a commitment to sharing knowledge within your team.

  • Deliver daily profit and loss reporting for all products and services across securities product desks with accuracy and insightful commentary.
  • Provide backup cover for daily P&L reporting on derivative trades with particular focus on IRS, CCS, and RPI transactions.
  • Produce daily XVA reports while continuously enhancing the independent price verification process to ensure robust controls.
  • Investigate root causes of issues identified in core activities by collaborating with stakeholders to resolve them efficiently.
  • Drive enhancements to the control framework by identifying opportunities for process automation and change management initiatives.
  • Substantiate general ledger balances on the balance sheet through detailed analysis and reconciliation procedures.
  • Ensure that general ledger revenue balances align with management reports and daily revenue statements by providing clear explanations.
  • Develop subject matter expertise to contribute effectively to bank wide transformation initiatives focused on finance operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Front Office teams as well as infrastructure groups to maintain transparency in financial reporting processes.
  • Support other team members by coaching and sharing knowledge to foster a collaborative work environment.
What you bring

To excel as Vice President, Product Control you will bring substantial experience from similar roles within investment banking or capital markets settings. Your analytical skills enable you to understand intricate finance operating models while your technical proficiency covers valuation adjustments like CVA/DVA/FVA. Beyond technical expertise, your interpersonal strengths shine through when communicating complex topics clearly or mentoring colleagues in a supportive manner. A controls first approach underpins your work ethic as you strive for accuracy and reliability in all aspects of financial reporting. Your commitment to fostering inclusivity ensures that diverse perspectives are respected within your team.

  • Demonstrated experience in product control within investment banking or capital markets environments with a proven track record of managing financial controls.
  • Advanced understanding of securities business including bond, equity, repo trade life cycles, corporate actions, and general ledger accounting throughout transaction lifespans.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of market risks associated with various securities products along with mechanisms of underwriting processes.
  • Ability to distinguish between trade date/value date accounting methods; ideally possessing familiarity with IFRS / GAAP accounting standards differences.
