Job Description

We’re looking for a highly motivated and industry proven Conformance Engineer to work within our Conformance department.

Overview

Focusing on the mandatory conformance for European and North American certification, the role is responsible for ensuring Sepura products are certified for sale in these areas. As a Product Conformance Engineer, you will support the development of Sepura's industry leading radio equipment. You will be responsible for identifying and interpreting regulatory requirements for the European and North American sale of Sepura products. You will devise testing regimes and develop plans to test products ensuring that both mandatory conformance and product requirements are tested effectively and efficiently. Working with Project Management and Technical Leads you will prioritise testing ideas. Using a combination of internal testing and third parties you will ensure that all tests are carried out in line with project timescales, helping in the resolution of issues as and when they arise.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and interpret regulatory requirements for European and North American sale of Sepura products.
  • Devise testing regimes and development plans to test products for mandatory conformance and product requirements.
  • Prioritise testing ideas in collaboration with Project Management and Technical Leads.
  • Coordinate internal testing and manage third-party testing to meet project timescales.
  • Assist in resolving issues as they arise during testing and certification processes.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Experience in product approvals and conformance certification.
  • Assisting with planning and estimation for all approvals and conformance tasks.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant type approval specifications including RF, EMC, SAR, Safety and Environmental.
  • Maintaining accurate records of testing and processes to build a test history library.
  • Analysing, understanding, and interpreting new approval standards and regulations.
  • Liaising with external test houses, planning test sessions, and supporting testing with technical questions.
  • Creation of Declarations of Conformities.

Desirable:

  • Carrying out conformance testing to relevant standards onsite and at external test houses.
  • Analysis of Conformance ATE results, evaluating issues and raising them with relevant development teams.
  • Approval and testing of radio products.
  • Support for in-country representatives on approval-related activities.
  • ATEX product approval.
  • Experience with Oracle's Agile for Product Lifecycle Management or similar.
  • Experience with Jira for action and defect tracking.
Skills

Essential

  • Interpreting and applying external certification requirements for FCC, IC and EU.
  • Radio Equipment Directive (RCD), EMCD and LVD considerations.
  • CE marking requirements.
  • Legal requirements regarding Company D.o.C.
  • IP and Environmental certifications; WEEE, RoHS and REACH directives.
  • Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.

Desirable

  • Conformance-related experience in approvals (areas such as PMR, TETRA, LTE, GSM, CDMA, GNSS, Ethernet, Bluetooth, WiFi).
  • RF test measurements and systems (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators, oscilloscopes).
  • Understanding of non-EU country approval requirements.
