Private Client Solicitor - Partner: Bourne, Lincolnshire Build & shape a Legal 500 Practice

The firm

This well-established regional law firm has a strong presence across Lincolnshire and the wider East Midlands, combining a genuinely local approach with the resources, expertise and opportunities of a larger regional practice.

The firm offers a broad range of legal and financial services to individuals and businesses, with established specialist teams covering areas including private client, tax, trusts, wealth management, agriculture, property, corporate and dispute resolution.

The firm is recognised in the Legal 500 and has developed a strong reputation for providing high-quality legal advice alongside a personal, relationship-led service.

With longstanding relationships across the local community, the firm continues to develop its presence in the region and is investing in the growth of its private client offering in Bourne.

This is an opportunity to join at an exciting point in that development and play a key role in shaping the future of the practice.

The role
  • Join at partner level and take a leading role in developing and growing the private client practice in Bourne.
  • Work with a varied client base including individuals, families, business owners, agricultural clients and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Advise across a broad range of private client matters, including wills, powers of attorney, estate administration, trusts, tax planning and court of protection work.
  • Handle matters ranging from straightforward wills through to complex estate planning involving trusts, inheritance tax and capital gains tax considerations.
  • Manage both taxable and non-taxable estates, including complex and high-value estates.
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients and become a trusted adviser to families across generations.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist teams across the wider firm, including tax, trusts, wealth management, agriculture, property and corporate.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor and develop junior members of the private client team.
  • Take a high degree of autonomy over your caseload, client relationships and business development activity.
  • Develop existing client relationships, professional networks and referral opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and contribute to the strategic growth of the local private client practice.
  • Support the firm's wider business development strategy through networking, seminars, events and relationship building.
  • Contribute to the development of the Bourne practice, with the opportunity to influence how the private client offering evolves.
  • Maintain strong financial management, including billing, cash flow and collection of monies on account.
  • Maintain excellent technical knowledge and keep up to date with developments in private client law and practice.

What if you could combine the autonomy and influence of developing a local private client practice with the backing and specialist expertise of an established regional firm?

What if, rather than simply inheriting an existing caseload, you had the opportunity to build something of your own and become a key figure in the future development of the Bourne practice?

You
  • A qualified solicitor or legal executive with significant private client experience.
  • Experienced across wills, powers of attorney, mental capacity matters, estate administration, tax planning and trusts.
  • Confident advising on more complex estate planning and high-value estates.
  • Commercially minded, with an appetite for business development and growing client relationships.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of your own caseload and client relationships.
  • Experienced in leading, supervising or mentoring junior colleagues.
  • A natural relationship builder who enjoys developing long-term connections with clients and professional referrers.
  • Able to identify opportunities to work collaboratively with other areas of the firm for the benefit of clients.
  • Ideally step qualified, or willing to work towards the qualification.
  • Experience advising agricultural clients, farming families and/or business owners would be advantageous.
  • Experience with succession planning, business succession and family wealth planning would be desirable.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients would be advantageous.
  • An established following or professional network would be welcomed, although it is not essential.

If you're an experienced private client solicitor looking for more than another role managing a caseload, this could be your opportunity to help shape a growing practice, build lasting client relationships and establish your own presence within the South Lincolnshire market.
