As a Prison Officer at HMP Norwich you will protect the public and help make a positive impact on prisoners' lives. You will work in a fast paced environment, building constructive relationships, supporting colleagues, and managing various shift patterns including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Responsibilities• Maintain order and ensure the safety of staff and prisoners.
• Act as a peacekeeper, counsellor, and teacher when required.
• Support prisoner rehabilitation and contribute to their welfare.
• Work as part of a team to keep the prison safe and running smoothly.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Meet the Civil Service nationality requirements.
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment.
- Meet the required eyesight and hearing standards.
- Have no offensive or threatening tattoos; facial tattoos must be for cultural, religious, or medical reasons.
Initial training hours: 37 per week. Post training, you may choose 37, 39 or 41 hours per week. Salary figures (no allowances shown):
- 37 hours = £34,928 per year
- 39 hours = £36,816 per year
- 41 hours = £39,334 per year
