Locum - Full Time & Part Time

Dream Medical are working with a Prison in County Durham and are looking for an experienced Prison Nurse to work part or full time hours within the healthcare department. You must have Prison Nursing experience and Prison clearance in place for this position.

Responsibilities

• Health promotion & education
• Providing clinical assessments
• Triage and treatment of detainees/patients
• Health Screening
• Administration of medications and treatment of minor illness
• Chronic disease management (Diabetics, hypertension, COPD ,asthma, ischaemic heart disease, cardiovascular disease)
• Ear irrigation/ear syringing
• Hepatitis B vaccination
• Assessment of detainees to identify self harm/suicidal risk with appropriate interventions
• Wound care management and compression bandaging
• Management of substances and alcohol abuse-symptomatic reliefs, administration of methadone and subutex
• Phlebotomy
• Venepuncture
• Providing counseling, social and psychological support

Qualifications

• Registered with NMC with a valid pin
• Prison Clearance
• Prison Nursing Experience
