About Our Client
My client is a prestigious engineering organisation based in South Yorkshire. They design and manufacture a wide range of mechanical products for high-end technical organisations across the UK and internationally.
Following a period of sustained growth and investment, this business is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead activities within their new product introduction team. This role will oversee product engineering, new product introduction/development (NPI/NPD), and work proactively with commercial teams and customers.
Job Description
The Principal/Product Engineer will be responsible for designing new product concepts based on market trends and customer needs.
Other responsibilities include:
- Designing complex engineered solutions to meet upcoming market trends
- Liaising with internal stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle to transition from prototype to manufacture
- Providing peer-to-peer feedback on product designs within the team
- Ensuring a holistic approach considering commercial, manufacturing, assembly, and product application factors
- Capturing business knowledge in SOPs and developing these for new systems
The Successful Applicant
Candidates should have a strong design-for-manufacture background with experience in pressure equipment, rotating equipment, plant/processing equipment, or similar safety-critical industries.
Requirements include:
- A solid foundation in core engineering principles
- Understanding of material science, fluid dynamics, or mechanical processing equipment design for manufacturing
- Ability to act as an agent for change and strive for continuous improvement
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of product testing methods to replicate real-world conditions and incorporate these into the design process
