We are looking for a Principal Stress Engineer to join our Galley Modifications & Upgrades team in Leighton Buzzard to be responsible for leading a global team of multi-disciplined engineers to research and develop designs, components, equipment, systems for aircraft interior products and be totally accountable to internal and external stakeholders for In Service modification design concepts to meet regulatory requirements.

Officially headquartered in the UK with manufacturing in the Philippines, the Galleys Program continues to be the premier solution for all Aircraft and supplying most of the galleys on all models. Note - This role is based in Leighton Buzzard, UK; however travel may be required to support the business or the customer. Our standard workweek allows flexibility to work remotely Monday and Friday, but engineers work on site as required.

What You Will Do
  • You will lead a global team of multi disciplined engineers to develop aircraft interior products and be totally accountable to internal and external stakeholders for the delivery on your assigned work packages.
  • This role focuses on driving measurable performance using defined KPIs and ensuring consistency across all project phases.
  • Own the engineering stress responsibility for various galley upgrade projects such as in service product modification, Trim and Finish changes, insert products, cabin reconfigurations, customisation and rebranding for top tier airlines.
  • Evaluate, verify and design supporting structural modifications to monuments in compliance with certification requirements and airworthiness authority regulations.
  • Lead global multi disciplinary engineering teams in the development and delivery of aircraft interior modification programs, ensuring KPI achievement, schedule adherence, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Accountable for structural substantiation and stress analysis of galley upgrades, cabin reconfigurations, monument modifications, trim & finish changes, and airline customization projects.
  • Perform and approve structural assessments using hand calculations and computer based analysis methods, ensuring compliance with airworthiness regulations and certification requirements.
  • Develop substantiation reports and certification documentation to support safe, reliable, and compliant aircraft interior products.
  • Provide technical leadership as SME, checker, and approver, resolving complex cross functional engineering challenges.
  • Lead design reviews, engineering investigations, risk assessments, and quotation studies to support strategic program execution and customer requirements.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years in a technical engineering role, with essential stress engineering experience.
  • STEM degree highly desirable.
  • Expertise in FEM for static analysis for metallic and composite materials, understanding of modeling techniques, and ability to suggest new methods for modelling, predicting effects, and load paths.
  • Strong knowledge of classical static structural analysis.
  • M1020 Check and Approval signatory experience highly desirable.
  • Experience in stress computation for commercial aircraft seating products desirable.
  • Familiarity with FAA/EASA requirements a plus.
  • Excellent communicator capable of achieving outcomes through dialogue with a range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the aircraft interiors industry, including certification, product development, and customer expectations.
