Job Description

Laserfiche is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to drive the modernization of legacy Microsoft-based systems while architecting and operating scalable, resilient AWS-native cloud infrastructure. This role leads the design and implementation of next-generation platforms, leveraging deep expertise in cloud engineering, distributed systems, and modern software development practices.

As a key innovator within the engineering organization, the Principal Software Engineer embeds artificial intelligence-particularly large language models (LLMs)-into both development workflows and product capabilities, accelerating delivery, enhancing developer productivity, and enabling intelligent, data-driven features.

This position requires a hands on leader who has successfully migrated complex systems to the cloud, possesses strong expertise in AWS services and architecture, and actively applies AI/ML technologies to solve real world engineering challenges. The ideal candidate thrives in forward leaning environments, shaping technical strategy while mentoring teams and setting engineering excellence standards across the organization.

About the Role - Key Responsibilities:

Platform Modernization

  • Lead migration of .NET / Windows-based systems to Linux and AWS
  • Re architect legacy applications into cloud native services
  • Move from tightly coupled systems to modular, scalable architecture

AWS-Based System Design and Delivery

  • Design and operate production systems using: EKS / Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS/Aurora
  • Build infrastructure using: Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies using: TFS and AzureDevOps

AI-Driven Development

  • Use AI to write, design, and accelerate software development
  • Using LLMs (OpenAI, Copilot, Anthropic, etc.) for:
    • Code generation and refactoring
    • Test generation
    • API design and documentation
    • Building internal tooling that uses AI to improve developer velocity
    • Leveraging AI to speed up debugging, migrations, and system design

AI-Powered Product Features

  • Build and integrate AI driven capabilities into the product, such as:
    • Document ingestion and semantic search (RAG)
    • Workflow automation powered by LLMs
    • Agentic systems that take actions across services
  • Design systems that combine:
    • Structured data, unstructured content, AI reasoning, deterministic workflows

Content & Workflow Systems

  • Work with document/content management systems
  • Build workflow driven pipelines (approval, routing, automation)
  • Enhance workflows using:
    • AI classification
    • Summarization
    • Decision support
About You - Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years' experience in software engineering
  • Experience migrating from Windows to Linux Environments
  • Experience decomposing monolithic applications into cloud architecture
  • Strong background in:
    • C# / .NET (including modernization to .NET Core/.NET 6+)
    • Backend systems and API design
  • Deep experience with AWS services (not just exposure)
  • Experience building and running production systems
  • Strong understanding of observability, scaling, resilience
  • Actively use AI tools in your development workflow
  • Have built at least one real AI-powered feature or system
  • Understand concepts such as:
    • RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
    • Embeddings and vector search
    • Prompt design and system orchestration
  • Have experimented with or built:
    • Agentic workflows or multi step AI pipelines
  • Able to make pragmatic tradeoffs in:
    • Migration strategies
    • Build vs buy decisions
  • Comfortable working across:
    • Legacy systems
    • Modern cloud platforms
    • Emerging AI tooling
