Principal Psychological Therapist - Early Intervention in Psychosis

We are seeking a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist working part time 15 hours per week to join our friendly Early Intervention Service across Buckinghamshire.

The Early Intervention in Psychosis service in Oxford Health is a well established, high quality multidisciplinary team that provides care for those experiencing a first episode of psychosis in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We are a clinical academic service working alongside researchers at the University of Oxford and with joint clinical academic posts within our service. We are at the forefront of early psychosis research and directly implement findings into practice for the benefit of patients.

This role suits psychologists who wish to complement existing part time NHS work or private practice with a substantive role within a high quality Early Intervention in Psychosis service.

Main duties of the job

You will offer evidence based psychological therapy to clients aged years who have had a first episode of psychosis (CBTp and BFT). You will provide CBTp supervision to junior psychologists and psychological therapists and line manage junior psychological therapists/assistant psychologists. You will work closely with the MDT to shape and fulfil the needs identified in the care plan and to meet the standards of care for the service. You will offer consultation and indirect work to a range of professionals, lead on projects to improve the service, and collaborate with psychologists and psychological therapists across the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire EI services to improve care by contributing to projects and supporting research.

Job responsibilities

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.

Other requirements
  • Ability to travel across Buckinghamshire to a range of locations and to Oxfordshire as required
Qualifications
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent)
  • HCPC registration
  • CBTp qualification or in training
  • BABCP accreditation
Experience
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with severe and enduring MH problems
  • Experience of supervision and leadership
  • Experience of coproduction with experts by experience
Skills
  • Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information effectively
  • Skills in complex psychological assessment and intervention
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing time and priorities
