The Naval Architectureteam:
As a PrincipalNaval Architect, you will be an important member in one of thelargest and fastest growing Naval Architecture Departments in theUK. You will be working on some of the most complex ship design andbuild programmes ever undertaken to deliver cutting edge submarinesto the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy.
This role willprovide you with the chance to work on submarines at all stages ofthe product life cycle from early design to build support andcommission. The Naval Architecture Department comprises teamsspecialising weights engineering, stability and hydrostatics,infrastructure support, seamanship and outfit, manoeuvring andcontrol, fluid dynamics, design and development. Depending on yourlocation, the role will involve working one day a week on site,with expectation to travel to Barrow for work commitments. We offerrelocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject tomeeting eligibility criteria.

- Designing the SSN AUKUS which is now the world's mostadvanced Submarine
- Using yourknowledge of hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, seamanship and outfit,infrastructure or whole boat design to support the largestshipbuilding programmes in the UK
- Supportingwith sea trials, inclining experiments and other commissioningactivities for multiple submarine classes
- Undertaking research and development activities todevelop world leading capabilities
- Writingand presenting technical reports
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience as a NavalArchitect
- CharteredEngineer or working towards Chartered status
- Degree in Naval Architecture
- Experiencein ship design analysis and build support
- Advancednumeracy and analytical skills
- Previousexperience working on defence projects
