Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation, working on the development of electric motors and motor controllers for next-generation systems.
You'll be involved from concept design through to production, contributing to design reviews, configuration management, and root cause analysis using structured methodologies such as FRACAS, DFMEA, 8D, and Fishbone diagrams.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop electric motor systems and motor controllers
- Support concept development and mechanical architecture definition
- Lead and participate in design reviews and milestone gates
- Manage design changes and configuration control processes
- Conduct root cause analysis using FRACAS, DFMEA, 5W2H, 8D, Fishbone
- Create and maintain 3D models and drawings in Siemens NX or equivalent CAD tools (CATIA, Creo, Inventor)
Required Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Strong experience with electric motor and motor controller design
- Solid understanding of change and configuration management
- Proficiency in CAD (NX preferred, CATIA/Creo/Inventor accepted)
- Familiarity with failure analysis and quality tools (DFMEA, FRACAS, etc.)
- Able to work onsite in Solihull 4 days per week
- Eligible for BPSS clearance
- Experience level 10+ years
