Job Description
Principal Disposal & Acquisition Surveyor - East Midlands - Local Authority Property & Estates Team. Salary: £400 PAYE / £520 Umbrella per day, Inside IR35, Ongoing Temp.
Responsibilities- Manage a varied caseload of property acquisitions and disposals across commercial and operational assets.
- Develop and implement acquisition, disposal, and investment strategies.
- Identify under-performing or surplus assets and develop value-add initiatives.
- Undertake financial and commercial appraisals to assess viability and value for money.
- Lead negotiations with developers, landowners, agents, and stakeholders.
- Advise on property investment opportunities and market trends.
- Manage external consultants, surveyors, agents, and legal advisors.
- Provide strategic property and development advice to senior stakeholders and elected members.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership and governance groups.
- Support capital programme delivery and revenue generation objectives.
- Ensure governance, compliance, and statutory obligations are met throughout all transactions.
- Contribute towards corporate asset management strategies and estate planning.
- Mentor and support junior surveyors within the team.
- Degree qualification in Real Estate, Property, or a related discipline.
- MRICS qualified (or equivalent Chartered status).
- Significant post-qualification experience within acquisitions and disposals.
- Strong experience across leasehold and freehold transactions.
- Knowledge of landlord & tenant matters, valuation, and property negotiations.
- Experience within commercial property investment and asset management.
- Strong understanding of property appraisals, development viability, and disposal strategies.
- Experience managing external property consultants and solicitors.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Strong report-writing and presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage complex property projects within a large organisational environment.
- Local Government or public sector property experience.
- Experience working across mixed-use or investment portfolios.
- Knowledge of development agreements, overage, JV structures, or forward-funding arrangements.
- Understanding of construction and development matters.
