Title: Principal Configuration Engineer - Luton Site

Role Overview:

Leonardo UK is advancing in areas such as tactical sensing, data fusion, communications, machine learning, and defensive systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly as a Principal Configuration Engineer based at our Luton Site with hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the five key Configuration activities across all lifecycle phases of a Programme within IPTs.
  • Provide clear guidance on C&DM processes and tools at system requirements, system level, software, modeling, or hardware levels.
  • Support process tailoring and challenge norms to fit the programme lifecycle and context.
  • Drive proactive GCAP (Work Package 4) initiatives.
  • Support the Head of Configuration and Data Management in fostering innovation within IPTs and Lines of Business.

Individual Expectations:

  • Resolve C&DM issues within IPTs through proposals and solutions.
  • Provide Basis of Estimate (BoE) for work packages.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Support team development and demonstrate self-management.
  • Promote knowledge and use of PLM and engineering tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review Configuration Management Plans.
  • Manage Configuration Identification, Change Control, and Status Accounting.
  • Lead verification and audits, including FCA/PCA.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure dataset maintenance and configuration control.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • Understanding of Configuration Management per DEF STAN 05-57.
  • Practical knowledge of the five key elements of Configuration Management.
  • Experience in Software Configuration Management at product release points.
  • Experience providing C&DM input to Design Reviews and Certification.
  • Experience with safety-critical product development.
  • Proficiency with Product Management Tools such as Teamcenter (version 13) and SAP.
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.

Security Clearance:

Ability to achieve UK Security Clearance (SC) and access UK-Eyes-Only and ITAR materials. More info at: UK Security Vetting Levels .
