Job Description
Overview

The Scottish Trace Element and Micronutrient Diagnostic and Research Laboratory (STEMDRL) is a commissioned service by National Services Scotland. The service provides analytical and clinical interpretation for a range of nutritional and toxicological problems involving essential and toxic trace elements and vitamins for the population of Scotland.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated leader and suitably qualified individual to act as the scientific director and principal clinical scientist. The successful applicant will develop and support the complex analytical methodologies required to provide this National service. Training and support will be provided so the applicant can develop the knowledge and experience required to provide clinical advice and interpretation of micronutrient results. An interest in method development, UPLC, automation and tandem mass spectrometry would be beneficial.

Qualifications

As a minimum, applicants should hold a post graduate qualification (MSc, PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist. The candidate should also be a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists.
