Job OverviewPrincipal Clinical Psychologist - Adult Audiovestibular Clinical Psychology Service, Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, UCLH. This Band 8a post (0.45 WTE / 16.9 hours per week) involves direct clinical work with adults presenting with tinnitus, dizziness, hearing loss, hyperacusis, misophonia and related ENT and sleep difficulties. The role includes supervision, service development, teaching, research and audit within a multidisciplinary team. Flexible working is offered with limited on site hours.
Main Duties- Conduct psychological assessments and provide evidence based interventions for patients with hearing and vestibular disorders.
- Supervise junior staff and support training of multidisciplinary team members.
- Develop and audit clinical services, ensuring high quality care and continuous improvement.
- Engage in teaching and research activities, contributing to academic publications and conference presentations.
- Collaborate with ENT, sleep medicine and other specialists to provide integrated patient care.
- Post graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 2000) and registration with the Health Professions Council.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across community, primary care, outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Experience with a wide variety of client groups, across the life course and presenting problems of varying clinical severity.
- Experience of applying clinical psychology in diverse cultural contexts.
- Track record of service design, development and audit.
- Experience in preparing work for dissemination (paper publications, conference poster and oral presentations).
- Evidence of continuing professional development in accordance with professional guidelines.
- Experience of teaching and training non psychologists.
- Evidence of implementing innovative practice and facilitating change management.
- Completion of further post doctoral training or professional development.
- Formal post doctoral training in a model of psychological theory (e.g. CBT, systemic).
- Experience working as a qualified clinical psychologist with highly complex presentations.
- Experience in clinical health psychology or related adult physical health settings, delivering evidence based group and individual interventions.
- Substantial experience in outpatient settings with patients with complex medical problems, especially persistent symptoms or ENT related presentations.
- Experience of teaching, training and clinical supervision of other psychologists and/or non psychologists.
- Ability to work in partnership at all levels within the organisation and with key stakeholders.
- Leadership skills capable of establishing direction and purpose within a complex organisational structure.
