Job Description
Learning Support Assistant (ASD Specialist - KS1)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Key Stage 1.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD.
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.
- Implement strategies to promote communication, social development, and emotional regulation.
- Assist with the delivery of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
- Support positive behaviour management and encourage independence.
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback on pupil development.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with ASD, ideally within a primary setting.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Understanding of SEND and autism-friendly support strategies.
- Strong communication skills and a patient, proactive approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
