This full-time position will involve supporting a small group of pupils within a specialist Autism Resource Provision, helping children to access learning, develop social communication skills and build confidence within a nurturing school environment.

About the School

This opportunity is based within a highly regarded Hampshire primary school that has been recognised by Ofsted as providing a strong quality of education and positive outcomes for pupils.

The school places a strong emphasis on care, wellbeing and academic achievement, with a vision centred around supporting every child to reach their potential. Staff work collaboratively and are committed to creating a positive learning environment where children feel valued and supported. The school is well-established within the local community and benefits from a stable and successful learning environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with autism.
  • Support children to access the curriculum both within the resource provision and mainstream classroom where appropriate.
  • Implement strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and social interaction.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals.
  • Encourage independence and celebrate individual achievements.

  • Has experience working with children, preferably those with additional needs.
  • Has a patient, caring and resilient approach.
  • Is passionate about supporting children with autism.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Is able to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
