Job Description

The duties in the role will include co-ordinating andpreparing all prescription requests for our patients, data entry onto patientrecords, EPS and liaising with patients and pharmacies.

Main duties of the job
  • To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests and as part of any required projects, collaborations, or investigations.
  • To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly.
  • To process all prescription requests in a timely manner according to our practice policy.
  • Respond to enquiries from patients, carers, secretaries, NHS administrators, Consultants or Medicines Management Teams in a courteous, timely and efficient manner and making precise records of the communications.
  • Provide an effective administration service as part of the Practice team to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted service of prescription support to clinicians.
  • To manage the PCN Task Box and direct suitable tasks into the Pharmacy ledger.

We are a large practice based in the centre of wakefield with 27000 patients. we have 10 GP partners and 7 salaried GP's who work at both our main site and at our branch site, Sandal Castle Medical Centre. Our wider team consists of Nurses, healthcare Assistants, Clinical Advisors and Trainee GP's. we offer a range of services to our patients and operate an innovative access system to enable our patients to access primary care services with ease.

Job responsibilities
  • Receive and process repeat prescription requests (online, paper, and telephone).
  • Ensure requests comply with surgery prescribing policies.
  • Accurately input prescription data into the clinical system (SystmOne).
  • Prepare prescriptions for GP/pharmacist authorisation.
Experience
  • experience of working in a busy environment as part of a team
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent (including Maths and English)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Familiarity with repeat prescription processes
  • Experience handling patient queries or customer service
