Practice Safeguarding and Support Co-ordinator

The practice safeguarding and support Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient focused services across multiple practice sites. The post holder will co-ordinate preventative health initiatives, manage safeguarding processes and provide administrative and procurement support. This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining compliance with NHS standards and safeguarding policies.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Safeguarding and support coordinator is an integral part of our practice team. They are key to ensuring that any safeguarding concerns are supported and managed in a timely and compassionate manner, supporting some of our most vulnerable patients.

This a varied and busy role where no two days are the same. You will provide a vital support service to the practices and their managers supporting with day to day tasks.

You will be responsible for managing our vaccinations especially linked to babies and children and will be creative in thinking of ways to increase uptake.

You will be compassionate and caring and able to work with our reception supervisors, clinicians and practice managers to resolve patient concerns quickly and efficiently and in line with policy.

About us

PWE Healthcare is a group of three GP practices based across five different sites serving a patient population of approx.25,000 patients.

Our GP services are provided through ELHT and we provide acute and routine care to our patients, alongside screening programmes and chronic disease management.

Job responsibilities
  1. Maintain safeguarding registers and liaise with external agencies to ensure compliance.
  2. Organise monthly safeguarding MDT for all PWE sites, meetings and attend patient specific safeguarding meetings as required.
  3. Managing and responding to ongoing caseload and processing all communications and updates.
  4. Monthly liaison with Health Visiting Team.
  5. Coordinate and arrange baby registrations, blood spots and immunisation schedules.
  6. Arrange childhood immunisation clinics and monitor uptake and improving performance.
  7. Ensure adequate stock management of vaccines including placing orders.
  8. Increase cervical smear uptake through proactive patient engagement and follow up.
  9. Monitor bowel cancer screening and liaise with patients who have not attended.
  10. Organise recalls for Flu vaccinations, Blood pressure checks, NHS health checks and Mental Health reviews.
  11. Adding clinic template to EMIS and arranging on boarding of clinicians.
  12. Resolve patient registration queries and errors and maintain accurate records.
  13. Support the Practice Managers with complaint resolutions and administration.
  14. Other tasks commensurate with the Band and role as required
Person Specification Experience
  • Experience of working with the public
  • Experience of working in a health care setting
  • Experience liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders/agencies
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience managing patient records and handling sensitive information
Qualifications
  • GCSE grade C in English or equivalent
  • Designated safeguarding lead (DLS) level 4
Skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Clear and polite telephone manner
  • Familiar with electronic patient record systems
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
  • Experience in resolving patient complaints
