As a result of internal progression within our team, Buckden and Little Paxton Surgeries are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. The successful candidate must be NMC registered. Experience in respiratory care (eg asthma and COPD management) is desirable; however, for the right candidate we are willing to provide training and support to develop this specialism.
Responsibilities- Provide general nursing services in line with practice protocols
- Chronic disease management
- Vaccinations and immunisations (adult and child)
- Administration of medication via injections (S/C and I/M)
- Wound care and management
- Cervical cytology (if trained)
- Telephone advice
- Blood samples, swabs and cervical screening
- Health promotion
- Travel health advice
- Ear care
- Emergency management - anaphylaxis and respiratory techniques
- Assist GPs with any minor surgery/operations as required
- Family planning / women's health
- Supporting QOF and other practice targets
- Chaperoning
- Ensure the treatment rooms are safe and clean
- Maintain treatment room equipment and stock
- Work flexibly to support the nursing team and meet the needs of the service
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
- Understanding of child health/safeguarding children
- Knowledge of mental health referral mechanisms
- Accurate and timely documentation of patient records
- Attend and participate in team and practice meetings, where required
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Respect the quality and diversity of patients, carers and colleagues

About UsWe are a hard working, friendly and dedicated team of 4 GP Partners, 3 salaried GPs, 3 registrars, 1 ANP, a highly skilled nursing team and outstanding administrative support teams. We run a total triage appointment system triaged by the duty doctor. Our dispensing practice serves over 10,500 patients across two sites. All staff are supported by the partners and practice managers. We are a CQC rated outstanding training practice, members of the A1 Network PCN, and run NHS Community Dermatology, Lymphoedema and Vasectomy clinics for the ICB.
Person Specification Qualifications- Registered nurse with an active NMC PIN and evidence of continued professional development
- Primary care nursing qualification
- Knowledge and working practice in spirometry/respiratory, or willingness to learn and be trained in this area
- Ability to work within a team, as well as autonomously
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to high quality patient care
- Self motivation, ability to prioritise workloads
- Understanding of the need for strict confidentiality
- Good understanding of primary care and knowledge in general practice
- Knowledge and working practice in spirometry/respiratory, or willingness to learn and be trained in this area
