An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Band 6 Practice Development Sister in the Emergency Department at both Doncaster and Bassetlaw.
We are looking for a forward thinking, positive and motivated Senior Nurse to join the team. Applicants should be interested in developing their leadership and educational skills and be able to support the DBTH Inter Professional Standards.
We seek individuals with the drive, ambition and passion to develop the nursing team and improve patient care.
The successful candidate will require effective leadership skills and be a role model to motivate individuals in new and improved ways of working.
Applicants must be an experienced nurse with clinical credibility and a proven track record of service development and improvements in patient care. Proven evidence of working within ED is essential.
Applicants should have a keen interest in education and caring for acutely unwell patients, combined with an ability to provide care in a compassionate and dignified manner. The post holder needs to work well within a team and be able to lead staff to maintain standards in line with Trust and NMC guidelines.
Main duties of the jobThe Practice Development Practitioner will help create an environment where the patient is central to all decision making and the delivery of high quality, compassionate care is everybody's prime objective. They will ensure that both individual staff and service needs are met while identifying and nurturing development opportunities for all staff.
Working in conjunction with the Clinical Educators and Education Lead, the Practice Development Practitioner will ensure all development opportunities align with organisational training and development objectives while providing advice, guidance and support to staff within the designated area.

Person Specification Knowledge and Experience- Currently working in clinical practice
- Experience of working in a multi disciplinary environment
- Experience of supporting and assessing learners in the workplace
- Good IT skills with experience of Windows & Microsoft Office including Excel
- Experience of delivering education and training
- Experience of conducting appraisals
- Registered nurse with active NMC registration
- Degree (or working towards)
- Current teaching & assessing qualification
- Competency Assessment Package Assessor status for clinical skills undertaken as per RCN competency
- Vital Signs Assessor
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with multi disciplinary team/patients/relatives
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development
- Ability to motivate staff
- Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance
- Precise and methodical in working practice and able to work under own initiative
- Evidence of change management and involvement in service development
