Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mathematical Logic

We are currently inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Professor Emmanuel Breuillard, Dr. Martin Bays, and the Mathematical Logic group at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This is a 2-year, fixed-term position, funded by a research grant from the EPSRC. The starting date of this position is flexible with an earliest start date of 1 October 2026. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are able to start in October 2026 - January 2027.
Responsibilities- Conduct research in Model Theory and related fields as part of the EPSRC standard research grant "Pseudofinite Geometry".
- Work independently, collaboratively with group members at Oxford, and/or with mathematicians internationally.
- Write up results either singly or with co-authors for publication in refereed journals and proceedings.
- Contribute to the activities of the wider Mathematical Logic research group.
- Provide up to three hours of teaching per week during academic terms.
- Have, or be close to completing, a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline.
- Possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
