General Description

The University of Oxford is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Musculoskeletal Epidemiology within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS). Based at the Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences, this role contributes to a leading research environment dedicated to improving understanding, prevention, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.

The successful candidate will join an established, multidisciplinary research team conducting high-impact epidemiological studies. The post involves designing, managing, and analyzing large-scale datasets related to musculoskeletal health, contributing to ongoing research programmes, and supporting the development of new research initiatives. The role also includes disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and collaboration with clinical and policy stakeholders.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position with opportunities to engage in collaborative research across the University's Medical Sciences Division and with external partners. The position offers a dynamic academic setting with access to world-class research infrastructure and expertise.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in epidemiology, public health, statistics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate experience in quantitative research and a strong academic track record, including peer-reviewed publications.

Required Expertise/Skills

Strong analytical skills with experience handling large datasets are essential. Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Stata, or equivalent is required. Candidates should have expertise in epidemiological study design and data interpretation, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment is essential. Experience in musculoskeletal research or related clinical fields is desirable.

Salary Details

Grade 7 salary in the range of £39,424-£42,794 per annum, inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University weighting of £1,730 per year.
