Job Description
Portfolio Director - Life Sciences Events

Industry leading events business seeks a highly accomplished Portfolio Director to help shape the future business strategy across its flagship Life Science event portfolio.

The role involves working within the Confex team to manage the global Life Science team as maternity cover over the next 12 months. There is a high probability for a permanent role at the end of this contract.

1 Year Maternity Contract

Ideal candidate will have the opportunity to build on the success of current events in the US and Europe, and play a central role in shaping the future business strategy. This will involve adapting events to seize market share, changing landscape, while cementing business practices around production, sales, formats and sales.

Key Role Responsibilities
  • Ensure the team lives its purpose while being a high-performance team
  • Deliver the budgeted EBITDA for the business reporting to Group MD
  • Manage the business senior management team including Event Director, Content Lead, Marketing Director and Sales Lead
  • Maintain best practices where they exist and adapt those that are inefficient at both P&L and corporate level
  • Hit business KPIs around activity, timelines and quality of product offering
  • Drive growth in customer metrics
  • Deliver with the ED and management team the overall 3 year brand strategy
  • Maintain best in class training and onboarding
  • Meet regularly with key industry stakeholders
  • Ensure a culture that is inclusive while being high performing
Profile of Candidate
  • Background in leading large scale event teams around the world (expos ideally)
  • Extensive experience in expos, conferences, with knowledge of content production, event sales and conference marketing
  • Experience managing teams in complex markets (non negotiable)
  • Proven track record of delivering sales revenue against target, and managing high performing teams
  • Demonstrable leadership skills, with experience of creating strategic and tactical commercial plans
  • Strong project management skills within Confex based events
  • Confident in building rapport and lasting relationships with senior executives and external stakeholders
