VANRATH are delighted to be working with a respected public body seeking an experienced Policy Officer to join their Policy, Research & Engagement Directorate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in law, policy, or research who has a genuine interest in equality, human rights, and social policy.

You'll be joining an independent public body committed to promoting equality of opportunity and protecting the rights of individuals across Northern Ireland. The organisation works closely with government departments, public bodies and key stakeholders to influence policy, legislation and best practice, ensuring equality and human rights remain at the forefront of public policy.
About you- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Law, Public Policy, Social Policy, Politics, Research or a related discipline
- Experience or a strong interest in policy development, legal research or public policy
- Knowledge of equality legislation, human rights or social policy
- Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret legislation and complex policy documents
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to learn
- Interest in EU law or post-Brexit equality issues (desirable)
- Knowledge of Northern Ireland, Westminster or EU legislative processes (desirable)
- Conduct research to support policy development and law reform initiatives
- Draft policy papers, consultation responses and briefing documents
- Prepare speaking notes and briefing materials for senior leadership
- Monitor legislative, policy and regulatory developments
- Analyse research findings and contribute to policy recommendationsli>
- Review reports and provide feedback on draft publications
- Support the production of reports, guidance documents and public information materials
- Contribute to research projects across equality and human rights issues
- Monitor progress against strategic recommendations and action plans
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the delivery of organisational objectives
