Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join our Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team, on a part time basis, at HMP Five Wells. This is a category C men's prison in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

This role is 4 sessions per month; total number of hours are 16 hours a month.

Salary is between £40,000 - £49,000 pro rota depending on experience.

Secure environments are some of the most challenging yet rewarding places for healthcare practitioners to work. If you are looking to develop your skills, learn something new and challenge yourself in a different setting, this could be the role for you. You will be supported by a Regional Team Lead and Clinical Lead, so if the prison environment is new to you, support will be available to help you settle in.

We also believe in a good work life balance, so the hours can be worked flexibly around your other commitments.

Main duties of the job

As our podiatrist, you will:

  • Provide outstanding evidence based care, advanced assessment and treatment of patients with complex and/or chronic presentations.
  • Determine clinical diagnosis and treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Assess and treat a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery.
  • Deliver non judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, following our policies and procedures.
  • Inspire excellence in colleagues by proactively managing foot, ankle and lower extremity conditions, and motivating the wider team to identify patients at high risk.
  • Forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider Health in Justice Service.
  • Be responsible for your own caseload and waiting list, and work as an autonomous practitioner.
