Play Leader (Lunchtime Assistant)

11:20am - 1:20pm, Term Time Only

Temporary 1 year in the first instance

Pay Rate: Scale 1, Scale point 3 - 11

Closing date: 1st September 2026

Do you have what it takes to inspire adventure, referee the next generation of football superstars, and remember over 400 names?

We're looking for a Play Leader to join our lunchtime team and help make playtimes the best part of every child's day.

This isn't just a lunchtime assistant role. It's an opportunity to be a champion of play, a problem solver, a race track designer, a football referee, an explorer, a storyteller and, occasionally, a superhero.

What will you do?
  • Refereeing a football match featuring future stars
  • Designing epic race tracks from cones, chalk, imagination and whatever resources you can lay your hands on
  • Inspiring creative play, games and activities that help children make friends, stay active and have fun
  • Being a trusted adult with a listening ear when someone needs a chat, encouragement or a little bit of support
  • Helping children develop confidence, resilience and social skills through positive play experiences
  • Being an all weather adventurer who can embrace sunshine, wind, puddles and the occasional snowflake with equal enthusiasm
  • Spreading positivity, good humour and kindness across the playground every day
  • Learning the names of over 400 amazing children and making every single one feel valued and known
We're looking for someone who:
  • Loves working with children
  • Has a great sense of humour and doesn't take themselves too seriously
  • Can encourage, motivate and inspire play
  • Is confident managing groups of children in a busy playground environment
  • Can stay calm under pressure when football decisions are disputed by 30 aspiring professional players
  • Believes puddles are opportunities, not obstacles
  • Is friendly, approachable and caring
  • Understands the importance of keeping children safe, happy and included
What you'll get in return
  • A role where no two days are the same
  • Plenty of fresh air and exercise
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's lives every single day
  • A fantastic team of colleagues
  • The satisfaction of knowing you've helped create memories that children will talk about long after lunchtime has finished

Are you ready to lead adventures, inspire play and become one of the most important people in a child's school day?

Apply today and join us as a Play Leader.

Because every great playground needs great people.
