Platform Operations Engineer (Lead)

Working on leading edge technology solutions including AI/DS, Cyber, Cloud, DevOPs/SRE, Platform Engineering

Your Responsibilities
  • Implementing and maintaining complex, secure VMware virtualisation solutions hosting Linux and Windows server domain environments
  • Proactive maintenance, identifying and implementing improvements to operational and reference platform environments while confirm security compliance
  • Providing operational support, such as incident resolution, change implementation and maintenance activities to ensure a stable and reliable environment
  • Proactive monitoring of system availability and performance to stay ahead of potential issues
  • Producing and maintaining clear and concise documentation
Key Requirements
  • Experience with VMWare vSphere suite
  • Linux and/or Windows Server system administration
  • Skills in scripting, such as with Python, BASH, Powershell
  • Managing secure or segregated, regulated platforms and systems
  • Ability to take responsibility for solving complex issues and being technical escalation for junior engineers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation
Additional desirable skills or experience
  • Working with Developers and Agile software development teams using CI/CD practices and tools, such as GitLab, Jira, and Jenkins
  • Exposure to IaC technologies such as Ansible and Terraform
  • System architecture and design, and continuous improvement in areas such as automation
  • DevSecOps practices, cyber security awareness and working as part of a wider technical team to define, implement and enforce an effective control set
  • Amazon Web Services - provisioning and management of IaaS and SaaS resources
  • Monitoring and audit tools such as Elastic, LANsweeper or similar

Where you'll work

ROMSEY - You'll find our Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast. This is no corporate concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with ample parking an on-site gym and a driveway full of daffodils in the spring. Predominantly working on site with flexibility for hybrid working where client delivery and project needs permit.

This role involves working the majority of the time on site at our Romsey location

Due to the nature of this role, we require you to be eligible to achieve DV clearance.
