The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has been set up to provide health security for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. It will need to take action like no other organisation previously in order to mitigate threats to health before they materialise. UKHSA will be a trusted source of advice to government and to the public.
On behalf of The UK Health Security Agency, we are looking for a Platform Engineer for a 6 Month Remote contract.
About the Role
We're looking for a talented and driven Platform Engineer to join our Enterprise Data Tooling team. This role is pivotal in shaping the cloud infrastructure that powers our enterprise-scale data and digital transformation initiatives. You'll work across AWS and Azure environments, driving automation, security, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
. Assess existing infrastructure and recommend improvements for optimisation and modernisation
. Design and document scalable cloud architectures in AWS and Azure
. Deploy infrastructure using Terraform across multi-cloud environments
. Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions
. Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to ensure platform reliability
. Develop and execute cloud security risk mitigation strategies
. Lead final Statement of Work (SoW) reviews and conduct knowledge transfer sessions
Skills & Qualifications
. Deep expertise in AWS and Azure services
. Strong background in infrastructure assessment and modernisation
. Advanced proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code
. Experience with CI/CD tooling, especially GitHub and GitHub Actions
. Familiarity with containerised environments (Docker, ECS, EKS)
. Security-first mindset with hands-on cloud security implementation
. Engineering experience with Microsoft Purview
. Prior experience in UK public sector or regulated environments
