Job Description
Overview

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce. Applications are invited for the position of Phlebotomist, based on the Ninewells Hospital site.

Responsibilities
  • Take blood samples by venepuncture within an established team of phlebotomists who deliver a 5-day outpatient service and 7-day service for in-patients and out-patients throughout Ninewells Hospital and to outpatient clinics.
  • Demonstrate basic phlebotomy skills and operate within a healthcare environment.
  • Work as part of a team with good time management, communication and interpersonal skills; maintain a flexible approach to working patterns as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Basic phlebotomy skills and experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Willingness to undertake full departmental training.
  • Good teamwork, time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and comply with the Code of Conduct.
Hours and Conditions

Hours of work are 20 hours per week on-site, comprising 5 4-hour sessions per week. Sessions are typically 8:00am-12:00 noon, Monday to Sunday, with afternoon shifts typically 13:00-17:00. Participation in a public holiday rota is required.
