Job Description

Camberley Health Centre are seeking an experienced qualified phlebotomist to join ourfriendly practice team. We require a phlebotomist to work 15 - 20 hours per week over avariety of shifts.

Main duties of the job

Primary Responsibilities:

The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
  • Confirming the patients agreement to the collection of a blood sample and ensuring that the patient is comfortable and relaxed.
  • Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with practice protocols
  • Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers and are accurately labelled
  • Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedures
  • Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
  • Notifying the clinical team of any significant patient issues
  • Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
  • Undertake training and development as required in line with the responsibilities of the post and practice policies

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Phlebotomist may be requested to:

  • Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota

We are a friendly Practice, serving a diverse community of approximately 10k patient list. With a multidisciplinary team comprising of GPs, Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare Assistant, Medical Administrator/Receptionists, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician

  • Working with EMIS Web clinical systems
