PhD: Finite-Element PCI Fuel Modeling (COMSOL) - Fully Funded

A 3.5-year PhD studentship fully funded by Amentum is available, based in Colney, United Kingdom, commencing 1 October 2026. The programme is conducted in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark and involves BPSS security vetting after appointment.

The research will focus on pellet-clad interaction (PCI) modelling, comparing Abaqus and COMSOL to capture inertial and multi-species transport effects, and benchmarking against literature and OECD PCMI exercises.
