Job Description
SEN Learning Support Assistant

Join a large SEN school in Stoke on Trent to support children with speech and communication needs, autism, and a range of disabilities. The role emphasizes inclusion, confidence building, and pastoral support.

Responsibilities

Work with pupils across key stages to facilitate access to their education. Support children to engage with tasks set by the class teacher, promote confidence and independence, and encourage pupils to act independently to succeed. Provide personal care as well as academic and pastoral support.

Qualifications
  • Professional experience supporting children with a disability or SEN.
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, cerebral palsy, MLD, SpLD or other SEN barriers.
  • Knowledge or experience with communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL, or other methods.
  • Confident, outgoing, and friendly disposition.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to hold student attention and focus.
  • Ability to promote happiness, self reliance, and positive interactions.
