Job Title: Performance Test Lead
Location: Cardiff, Wales (Hybrid) - Must be based in the Cardiff area
Day Rate: £450 - £470 (Inside IR35)
Job Type: 6 Month Contract

We are supporting a large-scale Cloud Migration Programme running from 2026 to 2028, focused on transitioning nationally critical health and public sector applications from on-premise infrastructure into cloud-based environments, including Microsoft Azure.

We are seeking an experienced Performance Test Lead to take ownership of performance assurance across multiple migration waves and major infrastructure changes, ensuring systems meet required performance, resilience, and scalability standards.

The Role

As Performance Test Lead, you will define and deliver the end-to-end performance testing approach for the programme. You will work closely with technical teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to validate cloud performance, identify risks, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.

Key Deliverable

• Performance test plans per migration wave and/or major infrastructure change
• Executed performance test cycles with clearly documented outcomes
• Performance tuning recommendations supported by evidence
• Production of performance test summary reports

Essential Skills & Experience

• Demonstrable expertise in performance testing within cloud migration or complex enterprise environments
• Experience validating cloud network performance, including latency, packet loss, bandwidth, and resilience
• Strong experience with automated performance test tooling, such as JMeter and Azure Application Testing (formerly Azure Load Testing)
• Capability in Azure architecture performance modelling
• Strong reporting, governance alignment, and stakeholder communication skills

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience working in multi-vendor or multi-supplier delivery environments
• Prior experience delivering performance testing in healthcare or regulated sectors
