Job Description

Job Title: Pensions & Retirement Benefits Analyst (DB Focus)

(Also suitable for: Pension Calculation Analyst, Pension Benefits Analyst, Pension Administration Analyst, Actuarial Analyst - Pensions)

Location: City of London (Remote working available)

Contract Duration: 6 months (with a view to extend)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Rate: Up to £550 per day

Overview

WTW is seeking three experienced Pensions & Retirement Benefits Analysts with strong Defined Benefit (DB) pensions expertise to join their growing team.

This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality pension calculation and automation solutions while supporting continuous improvement across end-to-end processes.

Important:
Defined Benefit (DB) experience is essential.
Candidates without DB experience on their CV will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse business requirements, Trust Deeds & Rules, and scheme documentation to design accurate, efficient and maintainable calculation solutions.

  • Produce detailed calculation proformas from first principles and supporting automation test packs.

  • Work closely with scheme actuaries, solicitors and other third parties to resolve complex technical queries.

  • Contribute to development and optimisation of end-to-end automation.

  • Deliver assigned tasks on time while managing competing priorities effectively.

  • Promote a strong culture of quality, continuous improvement and single-team collaboration.

  • Support implementation of automation and process improvement initiatives.

  • Provide an efficient, professional service that strengthens the WTW brand.


Essential Requirements

  • Proven background in UK Occupational Pensions - Defined Benefit (DB).

  • Strong knowledge of UK pensions legislation, including historical DB frameworks.

  • Solid understanding of Contracting Out requirements, including GMP.

  • Experience within the Insurance sector preferred (Financial Services also considered).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work as a proactive self-starter.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail with a process-driven mindset.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in virtual teams.
